NEW MINNESOTA INSURANCE LAW
A new law now in effect in Minnesota requires drivers to demonstrate proof of insurance when registering their vehicles and motorcycles, renewing their license tabs or transferring vehicle ownership. Previously, the law required Minnesotans to state merely that their vehicle was covered; now proof of insurance is required, including the name of the insurance company, the policy number, and the expiration date of the policy. The change is intended to reduce the number of people in the state driving without insurance.
